More you might like
Some of us live in such safety and comfort, only entering the arena of justice and self-confrontation at our highest convenience, that in the end, we neither live the life we ought to or had wanted to. We end up doing neither right nor good. By protecting against the possibility of failure, we succeed at risking nothing.
Whitfield Lovell
I am sick of myself,
but you are the
syrup that burns through my chest.
You scorch the inseparable mucus
from betwixt my lung.
And air like
an old lover,
meets me.
You are the one that my heart belongs to,
even now when my pockets are hole-y
and i have no where to place your gifts.
You are the one that my heart belongs to,
tomorrow when the fire thirsts
through the earth.
Thank you Lord, for your way which is always so much higher than any other.
Let love be genuine; hate what is evil, hold fast to what is good; 10 love one another with mutual affection; outdo one another in showing honor. 11 Do not lag in zeal, be ardent in spirit, serve the Lord.[e] 12 Rejoice in hope, be patient in suffering, persevere in prayer. 13 Contribute to the needs of the saints; extend hospitality to strangers.
14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them. 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. 16 Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly;[f] do not claim to be wiser than you are. 17 Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all. 18 If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. 19 Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave room for the wrath of God;[g] for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” 20 No, “if your enemies are hungry, feed them; if they are thirsty, give them something to drink; for by doing this you will heap burning coals on their heads.” 21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
For you are the God in whom I take refuge;
why have you cast me off?
Why must I walk about mournfully
because of the oppression of the enemy?
3 O send out your light and your truth;
let them lead me;
let them bring me to your holy hill
and to your dwelling.
4 Then I will go to the altar of God,
to God my exceeding joy;
and I will praise you with the harp,
O God, my God.
5 Why are you cast down, O my soul,
and why are you disquieted within me?
Hope in God; for I shall again praise him,
my help and my God.
